Azteca Systems Congratulates Kitchener, Ontario (Canada), 2009 ESRI SAG Award Winner
City Selected from among Thousands for Outstanding Use of GIS-Centric Solutions

Sandy, UT — The City of Kitchener, Ontario (Canada), was honored by ESRI with the prestigious Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award at the 2009 ESRI International User Conference in San Diego, California. Recognized for its outstanding work in GIS, the City was selected to receive this award from over 100,000 user sites worldwide. Azteca Systems, Inc., the leading provider of GIS-centric management solutions, wishes to congratulate Kitchener on the award and for their achievements in utilizing ArcGIS, Cityworks, and other applications.

Kitchener was presented the SAG award by Jack Dangermond, President of ESRI, at a formal ceremony on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the ESRI International User Conference held at the San Diego Convention Center. The City was recognized for its integration of ESRI ArcGIS with Cityworks, SAP, and RIVA Online. The enterprise solution has achieved success beyond their expectations and will be relied on for years to come. As a result of this innovative thinking, staff throughout multiple departments can now work from the same spatial database resulting in more efficient and effective business processes and better customer service.

“The implementation has enabled our operations, utilities, engineering, and finance departments to work from the same GIS base data, improving service to private business and the residents of Kitchener,” states Jeff Ham, Manager of GIS and Database Administration, City of Kitchener. “Our staff can now make operational and strategic decisions based on information that is synchronized across all corporate database systems.”

Looking forward, the City of Kitchener plans to enhance their enterprise solution by upgrading to Azteca’s Cityworks Server MMS leveraging ESRI ArcGIS Server technology and providing capabilities above and beyond asset and work management.

“Azteca would like to congratulate Kitchener as well as the other recipients of the SAG award for their outstanding work with GIS,” commends Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. “We are pleased with the success of Kitchener’s first-of-its-kind implementation and their use of Cityworks. Year after year Cityworks users are recognized by ESRI with the distinguished SAG award. This is testament to the performance of GIS-centric applications and how Cityworks has reinvented business processes such as asset/work management and permitting, taking full advantage of an organization’s GIS while leveraging the inherent benefits of ArcGIS.”

Azteca Systems wishes to congratulate all the 2009 ESRI SAG award winners and especially Cityworks customers at the City of Oakland, California; Cucamonga Valley Water District, Rancho Cucamonga, California; Douglass County (Omaha), Nebraska; Salt Lake City, Utah; and the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
